MIKE & RACHAEL
CASTLEFIELD ROOMS
WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
As a Castlefield Rooms Wedding Photographer, I was always looking for ward to meeting Mike and Rachel and photographing their wedding. It really is a favourite venue of mine, not just because of the building but the location.
Furthermore the Castlefield area is one of the last remaining areas of the City that really takes you back in time, especially under the railway bridge.
Castlefield Rooms and Dukes92 were indeed very much part of the redevelopment of the area in the 90s which I remember well. Generally, the area has always stood up various trends coming and going throughout the years.
BRIDAL PREP AT
LOCK KEEPERS
COTTAGE .
Lock Keepers Cottage is part of Castlefield Rooms and Rachael & her bridal party were stying in the cottage the night before. It’s a brilliant space for bridal prep right next door to Dukes92 and Albert’s. The conservatory and kitchen area is perfect for hair and make up with natural light flooding in. There’s also 2 reception rooms which are really useful for the children to play.
The time always go’s so quickly during bridal prep, I love the chaos. Before I knew it we were walking over for the ceremony. Mike was waiting with his Son and guests were all seated.
Ceremony & drinks on the balcony.
The Ceremony room in the original building is quite a space, lots light and space for me to move around. I tend to know all the Manchester registrars and I’m always able to capture the important parts without getting in anyone’s way. Mike & Rachael were pronounced Man & Wife and it was time for the celebration.
I quickly lined all the guests up outside at the bottom of the stairs for confetti time, it’s always my favourite part. As it was a busy summer’s day, it wasn’t really practical to spill out onto the cobbled road. There’s a perfect grassed area across the road from the entrance with a willow tree, perfect for some family group shots
A WALK AROUNd CASTLefield.
Castlefield, the perfect area for those urban couple shots. Rachael had already given me an idea of the kind of images she was hoping for. Luckily it was just my style and Castlefield is certainly my favourite part of the City for couple shots.
When it comes to couple shots, I’m very quick and spend hours putting you in uncomfortable poses all day. We just take a walk, have a laugh and before you know it you’re back to your guests.
ALL WEDDINGs SHOULD HAVE A CONGA.
I really enjoy photographing speeches, parties and a conga. I do love how suddenly a Conga happens out of nowhere. Children are a big part of many weddings and the space is perfect for everyone to enjoy, whatever your age.
Capturing speeches is always a favourite part of documenting the day, especially when I can freely move around such an open space. Mike & Rachel’s first dance was an acoustic dance just before the evening guests arrived. The early evening is a great time for a quick stroll for some low light shots, this time with their children.
